About Us

Natal Box Factory was established in 1944 by the Suleman Family. This family owned business was previously situated in Sidar Road, Clairwood, Durban, during the 1940's and subsequently relocated to 82 Old Main Road, Isipingo Rail in the 1970's. The company has been in business for approximately 72 years and has been passed on from one generation to the next.Through the years, the Suleman family have mastered the skill and art of pallet manufacturing and have dominated the packaging industry.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

As a responsible BEE level 1, South African enterprise , we have identified certain evils that plague society and have structured programs aimed at uplifting and improving the lives of our fellow South Africans.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Supply of timber and boards for the construction of wendy houses and dwellings in informal settlements, in Isipingo and the neighbouring Umlazi area,
  • Job creation for members of our community,
  • Imparting of skills to unskilled labour , including First Aid Skills, the use of specialized machinery etc,
  • Our waste products, such as saw dust and wood shavings, are used by subsistence farmers both for animal feed as well as fertilizer for crops,
  • Timber is supplied to budding entrepreneurs to assist them in developing their business, this includes the supply of timber to those manufacturing dog kennels, wooden floats, decking etc.
  • We run multiple feeding schemes on a monthly basis,
  • Donations are made to countless charity organizations.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

We are a BEE level 1 contributor and have been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for 24 Years. In 2012, we were awarded the prestigious “MEDIUM BUSINESS AWARD” by First National Bank Islamic Finance. In 2014, Standard Bank South Africa awarded us a certificate of long service, for being a loyal client for 70 years.

Our Leadership

Mohammed Hassim Suleman (Fuad), the son of the founder of NBF, is currently the managing and executive member of the company. Mohammed is responsible for overseeing all operations and general management. Mohammed now imparts his wealth of knowledge and skills .

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY:NBF runs a large recovery plant which processes reclaim timber. This allows us to keep our costing below average and plays a major part in our quest to save our environment. We try as far as possible to reuse timber and other raw materials. Our waste products such as the saw dust and timber are sold to bio fuel manufacturing plants.

PRODUCTS & SERVICES OFFERED

We manufacture wooden boxes, crates, pallets as well as pallet wrap and wooden doors.

PALLETS:Natal Box Factory has been in the pallet, crate and box manufacturing industry since the 1940's. Our specialty is creating the most convenient and comprehensive packaging solution for our customers. We put a solution to every packaging problem. Our skilled management and staff are trained to assess and examine the product to be packaged and to manufacture packaging to meet the dimensions of that particular product. We offer a personalized and professional service to every customer. NBF produces high quality wooden boxes, crates, pallets & other packaging products for national and international markets.

We also repair and refurbish used pallets

The timber used to manufacture our products comply with the standards set by the Timber Regulatory Authorities and Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Pallets used for export purposes are treated for invasive species of insects and is FSC approved. We are therefore able to furnish our clients with a certificate of compliance for export purposes. NBF in association with Cervante Industrial Supplies cc and Imvelo Doors Pty Ltd, has expanded and diversified its product range to offer its customers a complete packaging solution.

In keeping with our vision to provide a complete and comprehensive packaging solution a modern pallet and shrink wrap factory was established in 2009. Cervante Industrial Supplies cc manufactures pallet wrap, shrink film and low density bags.
